FOR FLMCC, YOUR CONTINUING ASSISTANCE MEANS WE CAN HELP MORE CHILDREN AND ELDERS

June has arrived and with it the long days of summer and school vacation. It’s a good moment to take stock of Freddy and Little Massi Calling Corp’s activities over the past few months and look forward to our activities for the coming months as well.

Since January 1st, 2015, FLMCC has directly assisted 19 elders and families with the payment of heating and electricity bills, emergency rental assistance, and travel expenses for medical reasons. We have also purchased a small stock of school supplies towards our 2015 School Drive. To that was added the shipment / distribution of over 600 lbs of clothing and foodstuffs to families in need.

All of this activity was made possible exclusively through the generosity of our supporters, to whom we are infinitely grateful.

As we move into summer, we are still receiving requests for assistance with electrical bills and rent, and we still have hundreds of pounds of donated clothing and supplies to ship. However, we are currently forced to put requestors on a waiting list due to lack of funds, and we sincerely regret this situation. Loss of power places related extra burdens on families in financial difficulty. Food is spoiled due to refrigerators that no longer run; laundry cannot be done at home; there is no warm water for bathing infants and young children; and electric stoves and other home appliances cannot be used. Moreover, during the hottest days of summer, loss of power means loss of air conditioning and fans, and thus a potential danger for fragile persons. And failure to pay the rent means eviction, pure and simple.

All of these issues all place more financial strain and anxiety on families with small children or grandchildren who are surviving on a frayed shoestring budget and who may have to try to get help from other relatives with equally complicated budgets.

Emergency financial needs are not limited to the cold of winter. Cuts in administrative funding, loss of employment, illnesses, and natural disasters – these emergencies know no season.

There are also our ongoing projects: the School Drive to provide as many children of less fortunate families as possible with the necessary pens, paper, notebooks, book bags etc., so they can start the 2015-16 school year properly equipped; our Blanket Drive to help provide warm blankets to the homeless; and of course shipping clothing and other basic needs.

For more information about our activities, please don’t hesitate to visit the different pages in our blog. We have received several very kind testimonials for our work over the past few months.

FLMCC’s purpose is to provide urgent assistance to families with small children and to elders in need, as often as possible and as far as our means will allow. We are counting on your continuing kindness to help us to make this consistently possible, 365 days a year. We ask that you please continue to share our information to others, and we thank you for any contributions you can make to our efforts. Every donation is important and very much appreciated.
